README FOR yssy.v1.zip March, 2002

Welcome to Sydney Kingsford Smith International.
A project from the team at the Sydney Flight Simulation Center.

http://www.comcen.com.au/~clivem/sfsc/index.html

Very detailed airport but where possible built with frame rates in mind. Still this scenery may be heavy going for low power computers. Changing the FS2002 scenery complextiy setting to "normal" may help some users. To enjoy the scenery as it was designed your setting should be "very dence" or higher. Much, much more could of been added to this scenery but to do so would render it unusable. We are aware that the default FS2002 can be a struggle for many computers in use today and this scenery may not suit you, if so treat yourself to an upgrade
Tested on PIII866 which obtained 10fps on landing.

Kingsford Smith International's location is very close to the Sydney CBD. Some residents say to close, however because of this location it affords one of the most spectacular approaches of any major airfield in the world, to those lucky enough to be sitting on the left side of the aircraft on approach to RWY 16L or 16R the sight is one to be remembered with the Anzac bridge, Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, and beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Many thousands of visitors were afforded this view on arrival for the 2000 Olympic Games.
What a wonderful introduction to a visit downunder.

A few interesting facts:

Sydney Airport is over 80 years old, first opened in 1920, by 1924, it had regular Intra and Interstate services, however it was not declared an International Airport until 1935, and was given a major upgrade in 1946, it was around this time that it was carrying more traffic than any other airport in the world, outside the United States.

It was named Sydney Kingsford-Smith Airport in 1953 in honour of the famous Australian Aviator Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith.

RWY16R/34L is one of the longest runways in the Southern Hemisphere, a little know fact is that NASA helped finance its extension for Space Shuttle emergency landings. Now that would be a sight on your Sydney Airport Tour.

A great site for more facts on Sydney International is..

Click OK. Close the scenery library dialog box by clicking on the "tick" or OK. you will then find it in Added areas in FS2002 on the goto page.
